Lucy’s Story

Lucy was 18 years old when she had her abortion.  She was a student at the time and was not prepared to become a parent.  She decided not to tell anyone about her abortion, not even her family.  They were still trying to recover from the sudden death of her father one year prior and she didn’t want to cause them anymore pain.

Lucy kept that secret to herself for 8 years.  The shame she felt from having an abortion caused her to feel depressed and angry all the time.  It wasn’t until she finally told her family the truth that she was able to start the healing process.

Lucy says that one of the things that she has learned is that Satan (the father of lies) wants women who have experienced abortion to keep it to themselves.  That secret then eats away at them and keeps them bound with quilt and shame.

Lucy has spent the last several years helping other women find healing and hope through Jesus Christ.  She refers to the following scripture when ministering to women about abortion.  Psalms 139: 13-16 says, “For you formed my inward parts;  You covered me in my mother’s womb.  I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.  My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.  Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.  And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.”
